Bring a film forward and the menu bar is already gone. Switch back to work and it returns.
Native, tiny and quiet. It sits in the background and asks for nothing.
Need the menu bar? Choose a mode from the Headroom menu and put it back in reach.
Mark the apps you watch in: the TV app, your video player, anything that deserves the full frame. Headroom remembers, and changes the menu bar every time you switch. Try these switches with the app tabs in the hero above.
Set it here. Then take it for a spin ↗
Yes. Headroom is free to download and use, with no account or subscription.
You can add fullscreen app rules for TV, your video player, and other apps in Settings. Rules apply while the configured app is foreground and fullscreen. Compatibility can vary by app.
This preview is built for Apple Silicon and targets macOS 15 or later. Live menu bar switching has currently been verified on macOS 27.2; other versions still need testing.
Automatic app rules need Accessibility access, called Device Control and Data Access on macOS 27. Manual menu bar changes work without that permission. Headroom doesn’t request Automation permission.
Move your pointer to the top of the screen to reveal the hidden menu bar. You can also choose a different visibility mode from Headroom’s menu.
